The global kosher beef market size is expected to reach USD 248.93 billion by 2025, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. It is projected to expand at a CAGR of 3.3% during the forecast period. Increasing demand for kosher food in North America and Europe is anticipated to drive the growth. The Jewish cuisine has evolved to become the hottest food trend in countries like U.S., Canada, France, U.K., and Germany. Organizations operating in food service industry have picked up on this trend with myriads of diners, pizzerias, cafes, cafeterias, bakeries, caterers, and butchers serving kosher food products including beef.
In
Israel, food franchisees including, Sbarro, KFC, and McDonald’s offer kosher
beef products. Various other multinational food franchises such as Subway, Dunkin’
Donuts, and Krispy Kreme in U.S. have expanded their product portfolio with
kosher beef variants. In January 2014, Golden West Food Group, California
introduced Glatt Kosher beef under its brand Certified Angus Beef. The product
undergoes two levels of certification, Orthodox Union being one of them.
In
April 2016, Migrator, a Russian meat giant, became the first company outside of
North America to be certified with Certified Angus Beef. The company is also
leading a huge project on legal classification and certification of beef
marbling. Organizations have been launching new kosher beef products rapidly.
Even bacon-a non-kosher food-has been redesigned. Jack Gourmet’s, a Brooklyn
based kosher meat providing organization has been providing cured-beef sausages
since 2015 under the name Facon. The process of preparation remains similar to
pork sausages and the product tastes fairly similar as well. Similarly, KOL
Foods, an organic kosher beef distributor offers beef bacons. The organization
sells it with the unique selling proposition of it being less fatty thus,
healthier.
Immense
support from different governments plays a crucial role in promoting the demand
for kosher beef products. Companies from across the globe have come up to grant
hechsher to packaged beef. Some of these certifications are Orthodox Union,
Organized Kashrut, and Kashrut Division of the London Beth Din.
